Joe Engler presents “Neighborhood Schools of Evansville”

"Neighborhood schools were a vital part of the walkable city. With suburban crawl, houses, businesses, and schools became more spread out. Buses became the norm for many children in school having to travel too far, just like their parents' daily commute. The recent push toward revitalizing neighborhoods downtown is evidence of people longing for the simpler ways and having amenities nearby. Though, many of the old neighborhood schools are gone, they left an indelible imprint on the history of Evansville's education."- Joe Engler
